Orson was the Mayor of Portville, NY, and passed away after an operation at Olean General Hospital. He had been a resident of portville and vicinity most of his life. He was a member of the firm, Hatch and Frair Brothers and had been engaged in the oil well drilling business for a number of years. He was appointed mayor to fill the unexpired term of Clyde Blakeley(may be Blakesley) in June of 1932 and had served since then. He was a former member of the Board of Education. He also had been active in the Portville I.O.O.F. activities having been Noble Grand of the Lodge and also District Deputy Grand Master for this area. He was a member of the Portville Methodist Episcopal Church and was active in its work. He was also a member of Portville Rebekah Lodge #663. Wife Hattie, son, Reuben Hatch, Portville, three grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Floyd Frair, Portville. Funeral was held at his home on April 16, 1939. Orson was born in the Town of Genesee.
