Notes for Orris "Clyde" Litherland: Stories told to Tammy Beckemeyer from Audrey Purdin,Southard and Dorothy Southard, Edgar. Clyde along with his brother Norman got Scarlett Fever about 1871. His sister Mary was said to have been a infant at the time and did not get it. It left him deaf. Clyde later married a woman described as being very cruel. She was from the South and as the story goes was used to having everything done for her. No one is certain if they had children. Clyde killed himself in the 30`s or 40`s by slitting his own throat. Dorothy said her mother told her about it years later as Mamie would not discuss it.
