From History of the 85th Illinois Volunteers, Illinois Volunteer Infantry by Henry J. Aten, chapter 30, page 404 (Companay D): OLIVER W. PARKS, aged nineteen, born in Pike county, Illinois, farmer; enlisted from Bath. Served with his company until wounded in the assault on Kennesaw Mountain, Georgia, June 27, 1864. He was discharged on account of wounds, April 4, 1865. Two years after his return home irritation, caused by a piece of his blouse which had been carried into the wound, caused it to break out anew, causing his death within a short time. References
