There is little evidence to place Oliver in the family of William Jackson and Hannah Mitchell. He does not appear in any census record with them, and his birth date conflicts with that assigned to their son William Robert Jackson in the 1900 census (Sep 1880). The only evidence appears to be that his father was born in Georgia and his mother in Alabama[1], and he was living in the same city as William and Hannah in 1900[1].

Several possibilities exist, including:

  • Oliver was not the son of William Jackson and Hannah Mitchell.
  • Oliver is the same person as William C Jackson in the 1880 census (born 1879) and his name was written incorrectly in the 1880 census.
  • Oliver is the same person as William C Jackson in the 1880 census (born 1879) and his name was changed.
  • William Robert Jackson was born in 1879 and Oliver was born in 1880.
