    GOLDEN WEDDING.

Celebrated by an Old Greene County Couple in Kansas. Under date of Winfield, Kan., Oct 25 [1899], the following gives an account of a golden wedding by a Greene County couple at their home in Kansas. This was a day long to be remembered by the following named persons who sent from this community especially to attend the occasion, and meet with loved ones in the far west, Charles Shepherd and wife, William Plummer and wife, James Hicks, John Hicks and son Otto. Perhaps several readers of the News can remember Perry Fuller and wife when they were residence of this county. They moved from this county to Taylor County, Iowa in 1856, from there to Mahaska County, Iowa, and from there to Cowley County, Kansas near Winfield. To them were born thirteen children, nine of whom are living in Kansas except one, Grace, next to the youngest daughter, lives in Oklahoma, Florence, the eldest child and Dora the second, live in Kingman County, Dora, (Mrs. Mitchell) has spent most of her life in school work, was twice elected as county superintendent of schools. Will, the oldest son living, is a contractor and builder, and has a beautiful home in Leavenworth. John and Dell, the youngest sister, live in Leavenworth also. Oll or O. P. Jr. is city attorney and deputy prosecuting attorney, his residence in Winfield is elegant. Jim, the youngest son is a farmer and lives near his father. Minnie is the only one at home with her parents. All the children were at home the day of the anniversary, but John. Of the twenty-one grandchildren thirteen were present and four great grand children were there also. A sister of Mrs. Fuller, Mrs. Emma Cornforth, who lives in Decompton, Kansas, and a niece, Mrs. Mary Rhodes, who lives in Oklahoma, was there. The children and grand children presented Mr. Fuller with $25 in gold, and Mrs. Fuller with a beautiful steel range. They received several more small presents. The dinner was grand and all seemed to enjoy themselves, notwithstanding the almost constant rain. At 2 p. m. the house was called to order by Mr. Charlie Roberts, a near neighbor for thirty years. (he was their neighbor in Iowa.) Several short talks were made, subject: "Now, and Fifty Years Ago." Had a very interesting recitation by Miss Roberts, songs by family, and closed with prayer by Mrs. Rena Plummer. Mrs. Fuller's voice is as clear and sweet as ever. Both she and Mr. Fuller are enjoying excellent health.
