Mr. Chapin was a member of Washington's bodyguard. He came from Orange, Mass to make his home in Battleboro. He became County Judge and held other offices with credit to himself and honor to his constitution. Eminently capable, enterprising and perservering he proved the right man for the time and place. He and his wife were universally respected.
