The Gibsonburg Derrick, 15 May 1890, page 4, column 4, A Delectable Weddin g: The happiest and most brilliant event of the season in this vicinity oc curred yesterday evening [Wednesday 14 May 1890] at the pleasant ho me of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Garn [Adam B and Rebecca Long Garn], southwe st of town, it being the marriage of their daughter, Miss Olive E. Gar n, to Mr. W. H. Phister [Wm H] of Fostoria. An impressive wedding ceremony was performed at 8 o’cloc k, p. m. , by J. T. H. Stuart of the Disciple Church, Angola, Indiana. After the ceremony and congratulations, a repast of the highest order w as served to the guests, there being about fifty present, who enjoyed t he pleasant conviviality characteristic of wedding festivities. The delightful occasion was made complete in its features of enjoyme nt by music of more than ordinary excellence executed by Prof. C. A. War d, instructor in the musical department of Fostoria Normal College. The numerous beautiful and valuable presents attested the esteem of t he well wishing friends. The following guests from a distance were in attendance: Prof. C. A. Wa rd, Mr. and Mrs. Long, Mr. and Miss Moore, and Miss Hattie Dicken, of Fost oria; Mr. and Mrs. David Phister, Miss Lotta Phister, John Phister, and M r. and Miss Mahoney, of Bradner; Miss Nettie Long, of Bowling Green; Mi ss Merta Morris, of Oak Harbor. The socially high standing of the contracting parties was evinced by t he presence of the numerous friends, who seemed to vie with each oth er in expressing good wishes for the newly wedded couple who have thus sta rted out to travel together life’s journey. With bright hopes and cheeri ng anticipations of a long and happy union. Mr. Phister has won as a life partner one of the most handsome, intelli gent and popular young ladies in this CO, and with such an agreeable c ompanion, it will be a pleasure to him to continue to sustain the honor wh ich clusters around his name, and ever endeavor to happify her life by lov ing kindness, and their aims will ever be for the mutual promotion of ea ch others happiness. The bride was formerly a teacher in Gibsonburg Schools, is a prominent mem ber of the Disciple Church, being organist of that society at present, whi ch position she is compelled to resign owing to her departure to her new h ome. Mr. Phister was formerly an instructor in Fostoria College, is now a succ essful agent for the Mutual Benefit Life Insurance CO decidedly popula r, and a member of the Disciple Church. Accompanied by his bride, he wi ll go to Fostoria, next Monday, their future home.
