    SPRINGFIELD MAN DROWNED IN TEXAS

    Olaf Knowles of 2063 [address not clearly legible] Pierce street was drowned early Saturday morning in Houston, Texas, where he was in the employment of a pipe line company, according to information recieved here by his wife, Mrs. Irene Knowles.

    Mr. Knowles is survived by his wife, his mother, Mrs. Dorah [sic.] Knowles, two brothers, Harabal [sic.] and Gerald, and two sisters, Mrs. Maude Reece [sic.] and Miss Nora Knowles.

    The body will be sent here Monday and funeral services will be arranged by the Klingner Undertaking company.

    Body of Youth, 21, Drowned in Texas, Arrives for Burial

    The body of Olaf Knowles, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Perry Knowles, 2063 Pierce street, who was drowned near Houston Texas, last Saturday, arrived in Springfield Tuesday night. The Klingner Funeral home took charge.

    Young Knowles, an employe of the Atlantic-Pacific-Gulf Refining company, was working for the new Roxana refinery near Houston when a pontoon on which he stood was overturned, throwing him into the water. His body was recovered shortly after by fellow workers. Heavy rubber boots which he wore were thought to have hampered his efforts in trying to get out of the water.

    He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Irene Knowles, of Houston, and one daughter, Virginia, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Knowles of Springfield, one grandparent, F. M. Austin, of Springfield, two sisters, Marie Knowles of Springfield, and Mrs. Maude Reeves of Strafford, Mo., and two brothers, Harold and Gerald Knowles, of Springfield.

    Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home. Interment will be in Greenlawn cemetery, under direction of the J. W. Klingner Funeral home here.
