ohn R. Guerrant was my great-great-great grandfather, and his and Octavia's portraits hang in my living room. His dates (from the back of the portrait) were Apr 2, 1794-Nov 30, 1858 and hers were Oct 11, 1813-Oct 11, 1858. The wedding date you give would put him at 34 when he married Octavia who was 14 years old.
I don't doubt that because my grandmother used to tell the story that it was an arranged marriage, and the Gibsons had to call Octavia in from the barn where she was playing in the hayloft for Johh to propose to her. I think the Gibsons must have had money as Octavia was a rather unfortunate looking gal, at least if the portrait is accurate. (When my grandmother moved in with her third husband after outliving the first two she hung the portraits on the wall. Her newly betrothed remarked, "Good God, Ellen! I could go downtown Richmond and buy better looking anscestors than that!")
John and Octavia's son was William Gibson Guerrant who lived in Pilot, Va. I don't know if they had other children.
