State of South Carolina, Greenville District Personally came by me, Robert Alexander being duly sworn and saith onsaid oath that he saw Obadiah Bolding, John Bolding, Collins Bolding,James Bolding, William Ayres, Joseph Ayres and John Cooper sign sealand deliver the within deed to James Cooper for the use and purposewithin mentioned and that he saw John Ayres sign his name with himselfas a subscribing witness sworn to and subscribed the 31 day March1818. The next abstract is where James Cooper sold the land. You will noticein this conveyance, the people are listed as heirs of John Boling. Youwill also notice that Obediah is not in the list.

Book N, page 129, 1823, Greenville County, SC The State of South Carolina Know all men by these presents that I, JAMES COOPER, of this Districtand state aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of one hundreddollars to me in hand paid by Thomas Ballew of the same place havegranted bargained sold and released and by these presents do grantbargain sell and release unto the said Thomas Ballew a certain pieceparcel or tract of land situate in the district and state a foresaidon the waters of Saluda River forty acres more or less adjoining landsof the said Ballew a part of which was conveyed from JOHN BOLLING,COLLINGS BOLING, JAMES BOLLING, WILLIAM AYRES, JOSEPH AYRES, and JOHNCOOPER, heirs of JOHN BOLLING dec’d which land now to be conveyed isoff of the east side of the said JAMES COOPER tract conveyed asaforesaid and adjoining the land of the said Thomas Ballew which landis laid down in a plat made by George Seabourn, Deputy Surveyor ascertified by the said Seabourn the fourth day of October 1823 whichplat was made for the said Thomas Ballew as a reference to the saidplat will more fully appear.
