Born January 8, 1921 in Frankfort, Indiana, the Rancho Palos Verdes resident passed away on July 26, 2011. He is survived by his loving wife, Gail Lauchner, daughters, Ann (David) Faust, Carolyn Joyce (David S.) Kitchen, son Charles D. Dunkin III, sister, Carolyn Gruelle, and grandchildren, Charles Dunkin IV, Christopher Clyde Kitchen and Kellanne Gail Kitchen.

Ensign Norman Lauchner, U.S.N., 23, nephew of Charles Flora of Delphi, a prisoner of the Japanese since the fall of Corregidor, has been heard from for the first time in many anxious months.Ensign Lauchner's parents, of Frankfort, have recieved a message from the U.S. Government quoting the shortwave radio message broadcast from the prison camp sometime in October during which Lauchner was given a few seconds on the air in the hope of reaching some listener who could relay the news home.Lauchner, who had been ill in a hospital said, "I am well and hope you are in good health too. Best regards to Frankfort and all our relatives. Also best wishes to our friends. Your radio message arrived in September-my first word from you. It helps very much...Norman."
