Norma Jean Ickes of Mount Vernon passed away Sunday at the Country Court Nursing Home.

She was born in Fremont to the now-deceased Birch Blake and Gertrude (Ryer) Ickes.

She graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in 1976 with a bachelor of arts degree in music education. She was secretary to the first president of Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Dr. Stephen Nease.

She is survived by four nieces and their families, Sharon (Jones) Rothe, Carolee (Doug) Walker, Sandra (David) Stephens, and Judy (John) Blakely. Norma was preceded by her parents and two sisters, Gynelle Jones and Marian Spackey.

Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. June 19, at Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home.

Funeral service: 10 a.m. June 20 at the Lakeholm Nazarene Church, where friends may call one hour prior, with Rev. Larry Hall officiating.

Graveside service: 3:30 p.m. June 20 at Lindsey Cemetery.
