- Source:Morgan, Appleton. History of the Family of Morgan, from the Year 1089 to Present Times, p. 55, doesn't indicate the parents of Noah #55, who married Mercy King. Source:Hyde, Charles M. Historical Celebration of the Town of Brimfield, Hampden County, Mass., Wednesday, October 11, 1876, p. 434, writes, "Later some of the sons of Benjamin, a brother of David, settled in Brimfield, and it is impossible to gather from the records which of the brothers was father of John, Daniel or Noah." However, Temple in his History of Northfield gives us the key when he documents the death of widow Hitchcock "mother to Reuben and Noah Morgan", she being Mary, widow of Capt. Ebenezer Hitchcock. She married him in 1761 in Brimfield. Inspecting Brimfield deaths, David Morgan d. 1760. His wife was Deborah. So he was not the father. Benjamin Morgan d. 1756. His wife was Mary Graves, and her birth in 1696 matches perfectly with the age at death of widow Hitchcock, 89 in 1785. It also matches the birth record of Reuben in Springfield to Benjamin and Mary in 1733.
Clearly, the Morgan family is not well-covered. But it is completely mangled by Source:Crane, Ellery B. Historic Homes and Institutions and Genealogical and Personal Memoirs of Worcester County, Massachusetts. On p. 104, Deacon David Morgan has a son David, then Joseph born 1705, some others, then Jonathan b. 1740, Mercy b. 1744, Isaac b. 1747. Clearly he has combined the father and son into one family. For the son Joseph, he shows Joseph's daughter Mary, b. 1737 marrying Capt. Ebenezer Hitchcock. Clearly he did not know Capt. Hitchcock's widow d. in 1785 aged 89.
