Died, at the home of his daughter Mrs. Wm VanTuyl northeast of Potwin, in the seventy eighth year of his age, Nimrod Mcelroy. Mr McElroy was born Oct 26th 1825, in Lee County Virginia. Was married to Elizabeth Newby, June 12 1846 in Washington County Indiana. She died December 26 1867 and in 1873 was married to Mrs. Lydia Ballinger, who preceded him to the grave. He was the father of thirteen children, three of whom still live to mourn his loss, Adam McElroy of Fort Worth Texas, Mrs Mary Boyd of Plattsmouth, Neb, and Mrs Penina Vantuyl of Plum grove township. He has long been a member of the Church of Christ. The funeral was held at the christian Church Tuesday at 11 oclock, conducted by Rev Neal Overman and the remains were laid to rest in the potwin cemetery. A great many relatives, friends and neighbors attended the last sad rites.
