Notes

Nicholas Trippe bought some of the same land that he surveyed in 1749. Even though he owned land in Frederick Co. VA. The combination of records in Orange Co. NC. would indicate that he was at least in and out of North Carolina over a period of ten years. According to records in Orange County North Carolina Nicholas Tripp purchased the land, he had surveyed in 1749, in Orange County, about 1754. He bought 640 acres of land from George Williams of Orange County, North Carolina. This purchase took place after May 2, 1753, which is when George Williams first purchased the land ( Register of Deeds Office of Orange County, North Carolina 1752-1768, 1793 ).

In 1759, Nicholas purchased another 100 acres of or on Cane Creek, Orange Co., NC and this land shows up on the 1779 Tax Rolls. Timothy would have been about 14 years old in 1754. George Williams and Nicholas Tripp appeared in court to witness sale of land in 1757. Another Reference indicates the deed was not recorded until 1759. Timothy Cude would have been about 19 years old and going on his own, about this time. The land site of Nicholas Trippe, in Orange county N.C. is located on the North side of old hwy 54 on the west side of the River. West of Simpsonville. Nicholas Tripp became overseer of roads in Orange County, North Carolina in 1765. John and Ann Tripp sold land inherited from Nicholas in 1790. This land was 100 acres in Chatham County, formerly part of Orange County, NC. Timothy Cude had bought land in Fredericks Co. VA. and both him and Nicholas Trippe both owned land there as late as 1768.
