Johan Nicholas was born in Altahoe, Tulpehocken Settlement in Berks Co.,PA,the son of George Daniel Schneider and Magdalena Stupp. He was baptised on Sep.17,1749 in Atalaha Lutheran Church, Rehrersburg, Berks Co.,PA. He married Anna Maria Bordner on 29 Jun 1773. He died in Upper Mahanoy Twp., Northumberland Co. at age 72. During the Revolutionary War he served as Pvt.(1776) in Cpt.Thomas Koppenhaver's company, Col.Timothy Green's battalion, in Bethel,Berks Co. and Lebanon Co.
