Nicholas Oloigher was born in Alsace France in 1783 and was educated in the French language and could speak it fluently. He married Mary Metz in 1816, during the hard times, and they had seven children. They came to this country in 1827, landing in Baltimore and journeying from there to Blairsville, Pa. After residing there for some time, he bought a farm in Brush Valley township where he lived until he died in 1828 and is buried in Blairsville. FAMILY HISTORY OF THE STADTMILLERS AND RISING compiled by M.B. Stadtmiller 1900/1901 Mary Nee Metz was born in the province of Alsace France, in 1783, there being one-half year's difference in their ages. She was educated in France, and spoke the French language. She died in 1858, at Saltsburg, and is buried there. Emmigrated to U.S. when daughter Katherine was 8 years old (abt 1827).
