Nicholas Lafon was a Revolutionary War officer and a native of Virginia who came to Kentucky with General James Wilkinson. Both Wilkinson and Lafon settled in Fayette County in 1784. Wilkinson later invited Lafon to move to the new town he had founded, Frankfort, and offered Lafon a selection of land on which to build. In later years, Lafon owned farms in Woodford County.

    Notes for NICHOLAS LAFON:
Captain LaFon went to Kentucky with General James Wilkinson and settled in Fayette County. He was afterwards induced by General Wilkinson to remove to Frankfort in 1787, and he very generously presented him choice of the most valuable lots in the town in the center, comprising the block frontage on St. Clair street, Main, Washington and Broadway.

Captain LaFon's Revolutionary record is found in "Virginia Baptist Ministers" and army records. He was eithteen years old when he enlisted as a private in Green's army; was in the battles of Eutaw Springs and Cowpens.
