BIOGRAPHY: The Fenner Family Fourth Edition Alfred Fenner Isham Los Angeles, California February 15, 1929 - Page 47 12725 NICHOLAS ARNOLD FENNER AND DEBORAH BROWN [b 29 Mar. 1807 at Scitate, d 3 Nov. 1882] Nick's father and grandfather were farmers, but he learned the carpenter trade and did designing. In 1835, he formed a partnership with his brother, John. They built machinery for cotton mills. In 1842, he made loose-joint butt-hinges, the first to do so in the United States. The factory became a large one. He was a member of the Providence council 1875-7; and of the assembly 1878-80. Nicholas m Deborah Brown [b ca. 1812; d 10 Oct. 1859, age 47], daughter of Jonathan Brown and Amey Arnold, in Sept. 1832. |
