Captain Nicholas Cook II came to Alabama from North Carolina in about 1791. He mentioned a grandson, Nicholas Davidson, in his will. His obituary states that he was 64 at the time of his death and a native of North Carolina. This could have been a typo or other error as he was probably 74 at death. In a statement made in the investigatin of the death of John Joyce who drowned while abord Captin Cook's schooner, he stated that he was 44 years ild and a native if Scotland.
