He was the son of George Washington Arbogast and Mary (Polly) Read. His wives were Caroline Summers and Sarah Igo. 

The Rogers Cemetery was called Woodrum Cemetery when Nichodemus died. But Nichodemus is not listed in the Clay Co. Cemetery Book.
According to his obit, he was born at Waugh's Mill near the mouth of the Big Sycamore in Nicholas Co., VA. This was five years before Clay Co. was formed from Braxton and Nicholas Counties.
