Hi, Bill. Attached are pictures of my grandfather, Newton Gilbert Knight, my grandmother (his wife) Estella Mote and her mother, Mary Amanda Riffle.

Newton was the son of William Garrett Knight and Sophia Eunice Johnson and the grandson of Thomas Knight and Lucia Maria Melvin. I've also enclosed a picture of Sophia. I do not have pictures of Thomas, Lucia or William.

Incidentally, my sister who lives in Boston visited the house in Cummington, MA originally built by Thomas and Lucia in the late 1700s. It is still standing and owned by a very pleasant couple who has maintained it well. I have a picture that I will send you.

I also have a lengthy twpewritten lettter written in the 1930s from Irene Knight Armitage to William which contains a great deal of Knight geneology. She also says in her letter that the Admiral (Austin Melvin Knight) was really into geneology. Any idea where his work might be? I will send you a copy of Irene's letter if you give me your snail mail address.

Hi, Janet and Bill - Just a quick note to tell you that I've got a change in birth date for my grandfather, Newton Gilbert Knight. The correct date is 14 October 1867. I just ran across some of my mother's hand-written notes and her date differed from mine. I subsequently confirmed the date by cross referencing his age when he entered Notre Dame in September 1888. He was listed as age 21 at that time. By the way, the cost for one year at Nore Dame was $150. He paid an additional $5 for a dance class!
