Nettie's Death Certificate lists parents as Daniel Dugger and Mittie (or Mattie). No such couple has been located so far.

Nettie may have been the daughter of James C. Dugger and Lucinda Largent shown on census records as Brimley or Brumby. If that's so, her uncle and aunt would have been Daniel Dugger and his wife Matilda "Mattie". It's also possible that Nettie was the daughter of Daniel and Mattie Dugger, though she's not listed as their child on the 1850 census. Daniel died before 1860. James C. Dugger died before 1880.

Nettie and her family migrated from Laclede County Missouri to Wise County Texas with Lucinda Largent Dugger and her children sometime between 1880 and 1881. Both families eventually migrated to various counties in Oklahoma.

After arriving in Wise County Texas, Nettie's husband became Richard Dyer. It's not known if Richard was actually Alexander Jackson Dyer, or if he was a different person. Richard and Nettie had four (4) additional children while living in Wise County.
