    SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa. - Nettie Sue Drake Soules Nichols, 79, of Shinglehouse, passed away Tuesday (Feb. 3, 2015) in Olean General Hospital after a long illness. Born on Dec. 28, 1935, in Olean, N.Y., she was a daughter of Leon F. and Betty Burrows Drake. On June 10, 1978, in Portville, N.Y., she married Hollis W. Nichols, who passed away July 20, 2006. She previously had been married to Richard F. Soules. Nettie Sue was a graduate of Shinglehouse High School, Class of 1953. She had been employed in several clerical jobs throughout her life. Nettie Sue was Seventh Day Baptist by faith. She was a very active member and past matron of Eureka Chapter 52 Order of the Eastern Star in Shinglehouse, where she could be found helping at the fish fries in the spring and fall. She was a member of the Bolivar Golf Club in Bolivar, N.Y., where she belonged to the Ladies' Wednesday League and golfed with her sister-in-law, Kate. She was also a former Potter County Hospice volunteer. Nettie Sue, along with her husband Hollis, enjoyed traveling, having taken many cruises, one of which was through the Panama Canal. Surviving are a daughter, Kathie A. (Greg) Bucher of Savona, N.Y.; three stepchildren, Frank L. (Lila) Nichols of Elderton, Susan R. (Rod) Allen of Lima, N.Y., and James L. (Jackie) Nichols of Oklahoma; two grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Denver D. (Sue) Drake of Shinglehouse; three sisters, Carman J. Drake of Shinglehouse, Fawzia D. (Del) DeLong of Salem, W.Va., and Rachel E. (Wayne) Bollinger of York; a sister-in-law, Kathryn R. "Kate" Nichols of Shinglehouse; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Nettie Sue was predeceased by a daughter, Debra Soules; and a step-grandson, Vincent Nichols. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
