Nellie Smith was born in 1893 in Luton, the daughter of Sarah Smith formerly Benning and her husband James Smith. Nellie appears with her parents and siblings in the 1901 and 1911 censuses, working as a straw hat machinist in the latter. Nellie has yet to be traced after 1911.
