On the 1880 census, age 8, with parents in Union Twp., Boone Co., Ia. (ED 12, p. 202A, fam # not given) Robert was the son of William Walker and Perthana C. (Gudgel) Purviance. On the 1900 Census, Robert is 30 and a farmer in Washington Twp, Dallas Co., Ia. Nellie, 28 is caring for their two children. She declares they have been married 6 years and she has born 2 children, both alive at this time.(ED 20, p 9A, fam #109/109) On 1910 census, age 40, farming a general farm that he owns with a mortgage. Wife Nellie, 38, declares they have been married 15 years and she has born 4 children, seen with them. Also in home is "Lorence", brother, 29, farm laborer, odd jobs. Since no last name given, we suppose this is Robert's brother.(ED 21; p. 7A; fam #93/96) On the 1920 census, Robert, 50, is still farming in Washington Twp., Dallas Co.,Ia. Nellie is 48 and caring for the three youngest children, still in the home. The three sons are all listed as "labor, home farm." (ED 22, p. 2A, fam #27/27) We thank William S.
