Nellie Renninger

Nellie E Renninger, 86, formerly of 110 Laquineo St., died at 10:45 a.m. S unday, Dec. 7, 2003 at Birchaven Retirement Center.

She was born Jan. 15, 1917 in Rawson to John and Eunice (Heldman) Ketzenbe rger. She married Donald S Renninger Nov. 8, 1941 and he died Feb. 9, 199 3.

Surviving are two sons, D Scott (Phyllis) Jr of New Wilmington, Pa.; and T homas (Virginia) of Rawson; a sister, Loreen Reckard, in CA; a bro ther, Darwin Ketzenberger, Lake Placid, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Ange la L Renninger, Oxford OH; Donald S Renninger III, Spiritwood, Saskatchew an, Canada; Timothy J Renninger, New Wilmington, Pa.; and Lisa Wentz, Find lay.

Preceding Nellie in death are her parents and two brothers, Bernard and Ca rroll Ketzenberger.

She graduated from Findlay College were she majored in Latin, English a nd minored in Physical Education, and did graduate work at BGSU. Nellie w as vice-president of the Class of 1939 and named in Who's Who during her s enior year. During her college career she belonged to Alethean, Sigma Kapp a, Pi Epsilon Pi, YMCA, Women's Athletic Association, Mummers and the Stud ent Council. Nellie began her teaching career at Vanlue High School also t aught at Arcadia, Mt. Cory and Findlay City Schools including Jacob's Scho ol and Glenwood Junior High School. During this time she taught grade Lati n, English and girls Physical Education. She was a member of College Fir st Church of God, Findlay Chapter No. 23 Order of Eastern Star, American L egion Auxillary OH Retired Teachers Association and Findlay Ladies Shri ne Club. Together with her husband Don, she was honored several times by F indlay College as Outstanding Alumni, naming of Renninger Hall and the D on and Nellie Renninger Scholarship started by friends and former player s.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at COLDREN-CRATES FUNER AL HOME, the Rev. Terry McBeath officiating. Burial will be in Maple Gro ve Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral hom e.

Memorials may be made to the Don and Nellie Renninger Scholarship Endowme nt Fund in care of the Univerisity of Findlay or Bridge Home Health and Ho spice.
