Research Notes

  • age 2 - his mother dies 2mos after giving birth to a brother, who also dies. Nehemiah is the only surviving son after a string of infant deaths.
  • 1850 - age 4 - his father marries Amanda Hall, his mother's sister in Rush County
  • 1859 - age 13 - Nehemiah dies in Milton, Wayne County, Indiana, where his family has moved. Six days later his step-sister, Nancy Alice (age 1) dies as well.
