Ned's name does not appear on the 1840 land deed with the other heirs. Macauley Martin, great-granddaughter of James Martin related in an article published in The Alabama Baptist that there was a son named Ned Martin who left South Carolina with his brother John, and that Ned stopped off in Tennessee while John continued to Shelby Co, AL. She wrote this information down herself to Richard B. Sims before the article was written.
