Sgt. in Co K, 43rd NC Inf, CSA died during the War. There is a monument to Nathaniel G. Ratliff located next to that of Rosa Crawford Ratliff Brantley. Nathaniel's body was not returned to SC after his death and the actual whereabouts of his burial site is not known. This monument was placed at the Hopewell Cemetery in Chesterfield, SC by Charlie Ross Ratliff a great grandson of Nathaniel & Rosannah Crawford Ratliff.
