  • Vol. 2 - PACKAGE MARKED "PROMISCUOUS PAPERS--A." - Paper marked Col. Edwd. McCarty's Papers (Coleman vs. Morgan)-- Richd. Trotter, a Sergeant in Capt. John Savages' Command, was entitled to 600 acres of land on the Big Sandy, part of 28,000 acres granted to John Savage et als., dated December, 1772. Trotter conveyed to Nathl. Parker, 1775; Parker to Danl. Jones; Jones to McCarty, 11th August, 1801, and McCarty received deed from John Savage and wife, heir to Capt. Jno. Savage. Enquire of Capt. Rice, who drawed a certificate of 223 days waggonage, given by Capt. Rice to Robert Lewis at the Barracks.


Will Abstract

Will of Nathaniel Parker Sr. of Sumner County and the State of Tennessee, dated 25 February 1811.
Give and bequeath to my son Robert and his heirs... dwelling house and Orchard to begin at Hugh Rogan's South East Corner thence South to a stake opposite the middle of my land that leads to my Mill, thence East to David Shelby's line north with the same to the corner, thence East to Isaac Bledsoe's line thence with it North to Isaac Parker's corner, thence with said Isaac Parker's line passing a spring to Hugh Rogan's line, thence with it south to the aforesaid place at beginning.
Residue of said tract of land, whereupon I now live...together with all my horses, horned cattle and hogs and my following named Negroes, to wit, Burrough, Ned, Sawney, Pegg and her two children named Levi and Squire, Charlotte and her two children called Malinda and Isaac shall be sold at the discretion of my Executors.
Proceeds after the payment of my just debts and funeral charges to my sons John Parker, Thomas Parker, Richard Parker, Isaac Parker, Nathaniel Parker and Robert Parker to be equally divided amongst them share and share alike.
Give and bequeath to my daughter Betsy Collier during her natural live my Negro girl Fass (Fan?) and her increase to my said Daughter Betsy's daughter, called Betsey her heirs and assigns forever.
I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Thompson, her heirs and assigns my negro boy Edmond and no more of my estate real or personal.
I give and bequeath to my second wife's daughter Nancy Parker one dollar and no more, of my estate real or personal.
Lastly, I nominate and appoint my sons Thomas Parker, and Isaac Parker Executors of this my last will and Testament..

Note: Children missing from Nathaniel Parker's 1811 Sumner County, TN. Will but listed in Justice Scott's letter are Aaron and Susannah Parker. Both died before March 1805.

    As to the birth and death years for Nathaniel Parker of Hampshire County, VA and later Sumner County, TN. Jay Guy Cisco's 1909 book 'Historic Sumner County, TN.'[1] states Nathaniel Parker was born about 1730 and died in 1803. These dates were based upon interviews and 1904 letters found in Parker in America. However a circa 1860 family bible [2] of a g-granddaughter of Nathaniel Parker of Sumner County, TN. states the Sumner County, TN. Nathaniel Parker was born in 1724. And the Sumner County, TN. Nathaniel Parker's will was written on the 25 Feb 1811 [3], he sold land to his son Thomas Parker (my ancestor) in 4 June 1811, and his Estate Inventory/Estate Sale was filed in the Sumner County, TN court in Sumner County, TN court on April 1812. The family bible is more definitive as to when the Hampshire County, VA. Nathaniel Parker was born and between the date of his will and the Estate Inventory, the 1811 date is more definitive as to when he died, ergo Nathaniel Parker(1724-1811)

    The Parker DNA page has the following dates which have been proven inaccurate: Nathaniel PARKER, born 1730 in Hampshire County, Virginia, died in 1803 in Sumner County Tennessee.

    1. Nathaniel Parker was born in Virginia probably between the years 1725 and 1735, the son of John and Elizabeth Parker. Nathaniel, served under Washington in his attack on the French at Fort Duquense [Historic Sumner County, Tennessee by Jay Guy Cisco, p 186-7] Archive.org. He was a long hunter making frequent trips to Sumner County, Tennessee for extended periods of hunting. In 1760 he was named in the will of his father John Parker of Hampshire County and in a 1765 Deed of Partition (FamilySearch) of his father's estate Nathaniel received 312 acres of land on Patterson's Creek beginning at a locust and sassafras and running across the creek as his share of his father's estate.
