Nathaniel Moon was a Cherokee Indian. He came to Madison County, Alabama with his family in 1808. He enlisted Sept.29 , 1614 in Capt. William Johnstons's Company of Madison Militia Battalion 7th Regiment (Perkins) Mississippi Militia, W ar of 1812 and served under General Andrew Jackson in the Battle of New Orleans. He was honorably discharged on Apri l 25, 1815. He married Charlotte Troup in Madison County on 10 August 1819.
