Came with William Mitchell to Ohio and settled near each other in Licking Co. soon after it became a state.

Member of the Ohio legislature in 1833 and 1834.

Nathaniel and his brother-in-law William MItchell built a mill pond, mill race and two water-powered mills on Rocky Fork Creek, Eden Twp, Licking Co, five miles East of North Fork. One mill ground grain. The other prepared raw wool for market. Later they put in a saw mill.
