    ... Nathaniel Hall came to Bennington with his father in 1779, where he continued to reside through life. Mr. Hall and his wife both united with the Baptist church about 1800, of which he became a deacon and was the leader in devotional singing. He was a quiet, unobtrusive man of exemplary, moral and religious character, and was respected and beloved by his neighbors and acquaintances. Rev. Mr. Jennings says, in his Bennington Memorial, u Dea. Hall was spoken of as 4 an Israelite indeed, in whom was no guile.' " He was an industrious and successful farmer. His wife a worthy "helpmete."
