M.D. Allison of Mattoon died here today. He was the only tornado victim in either Mattoon or Charleston to die Monday. Several others will probably die of their hurts however.
Thus far the total death toll in Mattoon has been fifty-five and that in Charleston thirty-four.
The number of dead reported in Mattoon was increased to fifty-five late today when Mrs. Belle Shelley (sic) died from injuries at a hospital here and the bodies of J. Needy and the infant of Owen Waggener (sic) were found in the wreckage of their homes on a nearby farm.
