- ↑ As documented on Person:Nathaniel Adams (5), identifying the son of George Adams as the husband of Eunice Stearns is an error found in many secondary sources. Source:Emerson, Benjamin Kendall. Ipswich Emersons, A.D. 1636-1900, p. 107, and Source:Adams, Robert Train. Family Record of Dr. Samuel Adams, United Empire Loyalist of Vermont and Upper Canada, p. 31, further muddy the water by pairing this Nathaniel with Martha Emerson of Ipswich, saying he did not move to Worcester until 1758. This is incorrect, and he had left Ipswich long before either 1758 or the 1747 marriage. This Nathaniel m. (1) 1738 Eunice Stearns, who d. 27 Jul 1747 (i.e., after the alleged marriage to Martha Emerson), and then he married in 1751, as Nathaniel of Worcester" in 1751 Mrs. Martha Whitmore. His widow Martha, and the children he had by first wife Eunice and second wife Martha are named in his will.
An Essex deed Vol. 106, p. 188"A" 18 Mar 1757: Nathaniel Adames [sic] of Ipswich weaver and Martha Adamas [sic] his wife quitclaim their rights to the estate of [Martha Emerson's maternal] grandfather Joseph Whipple. Note that the other Nathaniel and Martha have daughters born in Worcester before this date.
