- ↑ Nathan Leonard is mentioned in the division of his father's estate in 1817 (after his mother died). There are two possibilities found in the records (plus any others not known about). A Nathan Leonard m. 1817 Lucy Pomeroy (here), but one of his children's death record specifies his birthplace as Merrimac, New Hampshire, which makes him appear to be a poor match. However, some of his siblings also have marriages in Swanzey, and not enough records are found to rule this Nathan out. Another Nathan Leonard m. Ruhamah Nickles, and one of his children's death record specifies his birth location as Keene, NH, which is a better match, but the 1860 census (line 11) specifies his birth as 1809, and while the 1850 census (line 34) implies 1800, neither date works well in this family (1800 because no room, 1809 because 34 years after first child).
