Arrived in the United at Boston on the Schooner Mary Ann on April 16, 1849 accompanied by his brother Miner. Nathan was 23 years of age at the time of arrival. His naturalization papers say he arrive in Boxton on 15 April 1844 which would make him 17 years of age.

November 2, 1872 Nathan became a citizen of the U.S. Source: Naturalization papers from the NARA records, Boston, MA. The naturalization papers say he was born on Oct 27, 1827 at Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Other sources say 27 Oct 1825 at Shelbourne Nova Scotia. His headstone say he was born in 1823. That's three different dates for birth.
