SUMMONED HOME
Mrs. Nancy Forgerson Passed Away Monday at Her Home in Rice Township.
Mrs. Nancy G. Forgerson, 86, a prominent ,Sandusky county and Rice township pioneer, and a woman .who was' widely known and always highly esteemed and greatly beloved by all who knew her, died Monday morning at 7:30 at the family residence on the Port Clinton road six miles north of Fremont, following an illness of five weeks. Mrs. Forgerson suffered a stroke of paralysis five weeks ago and for a time her condition was quite critical. Later there was an improvement and she grew much better, but on Thursday of last week her condition took a turn for the worse and weakened rapidly until death ensued. The funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the house. Rev. J. F. Troupe, a pastor of First Presbyterian church, will officiate and interment will follow in the Brier Hill cemetery in Rice township. Friends are requested to omit flowers. The daughter of James and Elizabeth Park, early settlers in this section, Mrs. Forgerson was born at Marysville, Union county on April 29, 1835, and had she lived, until April 29, she would have been 87 years old. At the age of three she accompanied her parents, when they moved to Bay township, Ottawa county, There she resided until her marriage to Grant Forgerson on Jan. 1, 1854 following the marriage the couple took up their residence on the farm where Mr. Forgerson died in 1906, and where she died on Monday, which farm was always her home. She was a life-long member of the Presbyterian church and was active in church work while her health permitted. Mrs. Forgerson was the last surviving member of a family of eleven children and is survived by two daughters. Mrs. Mary Young and Mrs. Addle Foster; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous other relatives and a wide circle of friends One son, Gideon, preceded the mother in death. During her long residence at the family home in Rice township, Mrs. Forgerson had always been noted for her hospitality, her charity and her many other excellent qualities. She was also a devoted wife and mother, and a faithfu friend. Her death marks the, passing of one more of the greatly beloved pioneers of this vicinity, one who contributed her portion to the development of this prosperous section after enduring the many trials, tribulations and hardships of the pioneer day.
