Nancy was born Sept 17, 1843 in Wayne Co., OH, the daughter of Samuel and Mary Starkey. The 1850 census of Vermillion Twp., Ashland Co., OH, stated that she was single living at home with her parents and was 7 years old. The 1860 census of Vermillion Twp., Ashland Co., OH, stated that she was single, living at home with her parents and was 16 years old. Her death record stated that the cause of death was a tumor. The paper stated that Nancy suffered a long time from tumors and on this Tuesday the 28th of Feb of 1888, she had an operation and they removed a 40 pound growth. The operation was a success, but the strain was too great and she passed away 36 hours later. It also stated that a Dr. Dunlap from Springfield, Dr Myers of Ashland, assisted by Dr's Kendig, Budd, McClain and Scott performed the operation. She along with her sister Marie were buried on Friday the 2nd of March 1888. in the Vermillion Cemetery in the same grave at the same time. The furnal services were conducted by Rev W. S. Rae, assisted by Rev. Kauffman in the U. P. Church. This took place at 10:00 A.M.
