Nancy Ann McCreight was the daughter of Capt. James McCreight and Jennet (Strain) McCreight, also buried here. She married James Sloan on 29 Mar 1810 at Old Hanover Church. So little was recorded about women of the day and this is all we know.

    They had Sloan children:
    Alexander,
    James,
    William, unmarried
    Jennett,
    Elizabeth,
    Sarah Mary,
    John, abt 1817 - 31 August 1822, below

Children James and Jennett were named for her parents. She was a relict or widower, at the time of her death.

James (Sloan) the 4th son, married Miss Nancy M.Creight (sic), and had also a family of six children, Alexander, James, William, Jennett, Elizabeth and Sarah Mary. He settled on the farm given to him by his father. They were members of the Presbyterian Church, then under the care of Rev. James Snodgrass. William, the youngest son, was never married. He remained on the home farm with his sister Elizabeth. Of him we greatly regret to say, that he was the only one of this extensive connection that ever became addicted to the use of strong drink. He died in middle life. Jane, the youngest daughter (not mentioned above) married Alexander Bell, and had two children, Alexander and Ann. " The History of Montgomery County, Ohio, by W.H. Beers & Co., 1882, p 332-333, for more data on this family.

In the Early History of Old Hanover Church, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, by Rev. Thomas H. Robinson, D.D., published in 1878 by the Historical Society of Dauphin County, page 35 and 26, says Nancy Sloan, wife of James was born 1785 and died 18 Jun 1837. James Sloan married "Ann" M'Creight on 29 Mar 1810.
