DEATH TAKES NANCY M. SWAN OF NORTH LOUP
Aged Invalid Passes Away At Home of Sister; Funeral to Be Friday
North Loup, Febr. 15 – (Special)
Today, at her home here, Mrs. Nancy Maxson Swan, 78, passed away. She was born June 26, 1849 at Truxton, N.Y. In 1870 she was married to Luther G. Potter at Farina, Ill., and her husband died in 1888 in North Loup. Two children were born to this union, Malissa Loofborrow, deceased, and Mrs. Lela Green of North Loup.
On April 5, 1900, Mrs. Potter became the bride of Mr. Swan at North Loup. They lived here for ten years, after which they moved to Boulder, Colo., where her husband passed away in 1913. Mrs. Swan moved back to North Loup in 1918 and has since made this her home. She is survived by two sisters, Miss Mattie Maxson of North Loup, and Mrs. Annie Weaver, of Council Bluffs, Ia.; by a grandson, Leo Loofburrow, of New Auburn, Wis.; and by her daughter, Lela Green and children of this village.
For several years Mrs. Swan has been an invalid and has been cared for by her sister, Miss Maxson. She joined the Seventh Day Baptist church at Dakota, Wis., and also held membership in the church at Farina, Ill., at North Loup and at Boulder, Colo.
Funeral services will be held from the home Friday afternoon with Rev. H. L. Polan in charge.

Nancy Maxson Swan was born at Truxton, N. Y., June 26, 1849, and died February 15, 1928, at North Loup, Neb. On July 2, 1870, she was married to Luther G. Potter at Farina, Ill., who died at North Loup, July 16, 1888. To this union were born two daughters - Malissa Alzina Loofboro, who died August 17, 1898 [sic], and Mrs. Lela Green.
On April 5, 1890, she was married to Squire J. Swan, who died September 28, 1913, at Boulder, Colo., where the family moved in 1900. In 1918 Mrs. Swan returned to North Loup, accompanied by her sister, Martha, who has constantly made her home with her ever since before leaving North Loup. Words can not express the diligent faithfulness of Martha in caring for Mrs. Swan in her affliction through the years.
As a young girl in her teens Mrs. Swan joined the Dokata, Wis., Seventh Day Baptist Church and transferred her membership to churches of like faith in Farina, North Loup, Boulder, and again to North Loup, when she moved from one place to another. She was a sweet, patient, devoted Christian woman, loved and respected by all. She herself said in a last conversation with her that she was "a staunch Seventh Day Baptist."
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Annis Weaver of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Martha of North Loup; a grandson, Leo Loofboro of New Auburn, Wis.; her daughter Lela and family, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at her home by her pastor, Friday afternoon, February 17, and the body was laid to rest in the North Loup Cemetery.
