NANCY KELSEY was born on 17 Apr 1799 at Ohio, daughter of THOMAS KELSEY and ELIZABETH HANNAH MILES. Nancy was the eighth child of a large family, 7 girls and 5 boys. There is confusion in the records as to the birthplace of Nancy Kelsey. The 1850 census and at least one GED file list her birthplace as Mason County Kentucky. The 1860 and 1870 censuses list her birthplace as Ohio. Her parents were married in Ohio and so was she. Her husband Daniel was born in Mason County, Kentucky, but came to Ohio sometime during his youth. It is likely the Kentucky references are in error and she was born in Ohio.

She married DANIEL WATKINS, son of WILLIAM WATKINS and RACHEL MULLEN, circa 1818. The marriage date is chosen prior to the birth of their first son Abbot in 1819. They had a large family, with 11 children, 9 boys and two girls. She appeared on the census of 1820 at Washington Township, Montgomery County, Ohio. Daniel and Nancy likely moved from Ohio to Indiana in 1831. Son George was born in Ohio in 1830. Son Charles was born in Indiana in 1832. She and DANIEL WATKINS appeared on the census of 1850 at Scott Township, Montgomery County, Indiana. She appeared on the census of 1850 at Scott Township, Montgomery County, Indiana. She and DANIEL WATKINS appeared on the census of Jul 1860 at Scott Township, Montgomery County, Indiana. She and DANIEL WATKINS appeared on the census of 1870 at Clark Township, Montgomery County, Indiana.

She died in Mar 1878 at age 78.
