[edit] NotesThe following is from a conversation with Gary Mullins, 29 April 1996 with WMWillis: Will of William James, Russell County DeedBook 4, May 22 1819, probated February 1822 Beneficiaries:
Note: I can't tell from my notes whether the daughters last names are listed in the will using their married names, or if this is something that Gary added. He gave other information about them (such as Ann's death date of 1840/1850) that couldn't have been included in the will. However, daughter Nancy he gave as "Nancy Anderson"; she would have been a young child at the time. The other daughters mention are listed under their married names, so perhaps they were married prior to their fathers death 1819-1822. Gary also added a note about the family tradition that son Samuel was the grandfather of the outlaw Jesse James. I don't believe that Gary particularly believed that, but just passing along the family tradition. References
