"In this county, Sept. 30, 1858, [William S. Garner] married Nancy M. Crews, born in Sangamon County, Ills., Oct. 7, 1837, daughter of Jesse and Susan Crews, natives of Kentucky; he died in 1878; she, still living; from this union eight children have been born, viz.: Hanson A., Nellie, James H., L.  In the 1850 census for Cass Co., Illinois, Jesse Crews is 41, farmer from KY; with L. A. E. 38 VA; William J. 17 KY; David M. 15 IL; Nancy 13 IL; T. N. 10; I. M. 3; and G. W. B. 1.  They are next door to James Garner's household.
