N. Celestia Crandall, wife of E. R. Crandall, Esq, Little Genesee, NY, departed this life on Thursday, Nov. 14th, 1878, aged nearly 53 years. A disease of painful character, baffling the power of medicine to relieve, had preyed upon her system for some time. A surgical operation was at last decided upon as affording the only chance for her recovery; but even that failed of the desired result, although performed by one of undoubted skill. Finding that the Master had called, she took an affectionate leave of her weeping family, and swiftly fell asleep in Jesus. The church and the community have sustained a great loss, her life having been one continued testimony to the power of the Christian religion, and to the benevolence which it inspires. "Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies."
