"Matilda 3 May 1791" ... "Received a Petition from Nancy Ault, Daughter of George Brouse, who serv'd as a private Soldier during the late War, in Sir John Johnsons Regiment. She informs the Board that her Father died in the service before the Instructions of the Year 1783, but subsequent to that period her Mother Reciev'd one hundred acres of land in virtue of the pretensions of the Deces'd. The Board being satisfied of the truth of these particulars, have notwithstanding a doubt about the propriety of granting the prayer of this Petition. by reason of her Father not having improved under the Instructions of the Year 1783. But conceive she is equally entitled to the same and beg leave to Recommend her to Lord Dorchester for a grant of 200 Acres of Land."
