MURIEL ARVILLA CRUMRIN
Funeral service for Muriel Arvilla Crumrin of Pilot Rock, who died Sunday, October 30, 1983, was held Thursday, November 3rd in Folsom-Bishop Funeral Chapel. Interment was at Olney cemetery Mausoleum.
She was 86 years of age, born August 2, 1897 at Iroquois County, Illinois. Her parents were Burton A. and Hattie H. Maggee.
She moved to Pilot Rock in 1955.
Mrs. Crumrin was orphaned at three years of age and went to reside with her paternal grandmother at Watseka, Illinois where she graduated from high school in 1915. She then attended McMurray College, Jacksonville, Ill. and went on to graduate with a B.S. degree from University of Illinois. For 37 1/2 years she was a teacher in Illinois, Washington, and Oregon, also teaching Mathematics at Air Corps at Washington State University, Pullman, Wa. during World War 2. She had a teaching certificate from Gregg College, Chicago. She retired from teaching in 1962 and went to Alaska where she spent a year teaching in Nome, Alaska.
Mrs. Crumrin traveled over all of the United States, and most of the Provinces of Canada, toured Scotland, Ireland and much of England, Holland, Belgium and France. When 79 years old she went to Egypt and went boating on the Nile, Cairo to Aswan Dam and then the next year to India. After retirement she spent much of her time caring for invalids until her 79th birthday.
She attended the Pilot Rock Community Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Crumrin had no known living relatives.
Arrangements were in care of Folsom-Bishop Funeral Chapel.
