Mrs Copeman wrote: I find it written in an old book that Grandfather (Moses Royse) had three brothers that went to Kentucky. The above is a correct copy from an old paper that aunt Poly Core had in her possession. The Wotemgs know nothing about the original copy, but think it was worn out. Written by Garfield Copeman, December 19, 1899.

Moses removed about 1805 from Alexanderia (or Winchester) Virginia to Hampshire County, Virginia with his family.

About the year 1796, perhaps a little earlier the families of Aaron and his son Moses Royse, removed to Preston County, now West Virginia, and settled near Kingwood. Moses and family settled on the farm now occupied by my sister, Mrs Rachel C Copeman, in 1805. He purchased the farm from William Darling, November 29, 1805 for $800.00. He lived on that farm till his death, May 12, 1829. His wife Rebecca, continued to live on the farm till her death January 10, 1861, in the 95th year of her age.
