Moses Myers was born Aug. 9, 1828, in Wayne County, Ind. He was reared on his father's farm and received a limited education in the schools of his neighborhood. He remained at home till 1855 when he was married to Mary, a daughter of Randolph Ellenbarger. Of the six children born to them, three survive - Moses E., Isaiah E. and Jeremiah E. Soon after his marriage, Mr. Myers settled on the farm where he yet resides, then containing 160 acres, but at present containing 520 acres. He has in his possession the patent for the farm now occupied by Jacob Shideler, who has leased the farm for twenty-one years. The patent was issued in 1823 and signed by President James Monroe. His barn is one of the largest in the county. It is built of Vermont slate and cost $7,000. His house is a large three-story and basement brick structure, and was arranged with an eye to convenience and comfort. His father, Moses Myers, was a native of Maryland and came with his parents to Ohio when six years old, where he was married to Barbary Heiney, a native of Lancaster County, Pa., who died about 1834. They were the parents of six children, two of whom survive - Mary, wife of Adam Dashler N1, and our subject [Moses Myers]. Mr. Myers was again married, his second wife being Annie Kauffman, by whom he had three children, two still living.

NOTE N1: Surname is spelled "Doerstler" not Dashler.
